The import of these goods is criminalized under Article 301-1 of Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is punishable by up to 2 years in prison.

 

- The law does not contain clear quantitative criteria distinguishing administrative and criminal liability.

 

- Even a single importation can lead to the initiation of a criminal case.

 

- The purpose of importation (sale or personal use) does not matter.

 

- Ignorance of the law does not exempt from responsibility.
