On April 2, 2025, the Department of State Revenue for the city of Almaty revealed illegal trafficking in counterfeit tobacco products during verification activities. 18,603 packs of cigarettes were found without codes (means of identification) and with codes of an unidentified sample. The total cost of illegal products is about 17 million tenge.

 

The materials have been submitted to the judicial authorities of the city of Almaty for making a procedural decision. Administrative and criminal liability is provided for this violation.

 

The confiscated excisable products pose a serious threat to the life and health of citizens. The Department urges citizens to be vigilant when purchasing tobacco products of questionable origin.
