On May 29, 2025, within the framework of the International Forum “Astana” hosted a meeting between the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Madi Takiyev, and the Minister of Finance of the Sultanate of Oman, Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of further expansion of trade, economic, investment, transit and transport cooperation, exchanged views on the development of economic relations between the Ministries of finance in the field of public finance management, as well as on other issues within the framework of bilateral cooperation.

"Kazakhstan highly appreciates the strategic nature of cooperation with the Sultanate of Oman and is ready for further mutually beneficial cooperation," Madi Takiyev said.

Following the meeting, an Agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Sultanate of Oman for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Tax Evasion with respect to taxes on income and capital, as well as a protocol thereto.

The agreement creates a legislative framework in tax relations, prevents double taxation, and allows for closer economic ties between states.
